The most basic of all archetypes, the image of mother and child expresses the love and compassion that sustain and nurture the lives of all beings. In this sense the image of mother and child evokes the Goddess cherishing her creation.

This altar is covered in handmade paper. The bowl symbolizes a vessel, the ancient symbol for the sacred feminine. The shells around the bowl open like lotus petals, a symbol of wisdom. Hands reach for the mother and child, as we all reach for love and nurturing. Branches represent trees of life, growing to the heavens.
